Hello, Dio here! Unfortunately I am forced to delay the valentines event to the weekend! 

I've been unwell this week irl and could not get to finishing the final setup for the event on time, I deeply apologize for this! Fear not though as it will still happen! Just going to be a few days late! Same goes for the adoptables!

Congrats on all of the winners for our first raffle! Here are your instructions:

1.  Raffle prizes will be handed out once everyone has presented their prize choice!
2. You will be given TWO choices in prize.
   1. A random NEW Star Eater designed by one of the admins! [There are designs by dio [2] , Swifthowler [1], Zoroark [1], and MonsterrTooth [1]!]
   2. An ADOPTION VOUCHER to get one of the Adoption Center designs! [Remember that after prizes are handed out those will be FCFS!]
3. Prize preference will be given out IN ORDER OF THE LIST ABOVE the first user gets first choice, second gets second choice and so on! There are only five of each prize.
4. To CHOOSE your prize reply to the coment posted by dio below! Heres a link to it!
   1. You may respond immediately no matter what  position you recieved! The prizes will be given out in order of the list regardless of coment order.
   2. More info about the prize selection will be in that comment!
5. If you do not respond to the claim comment within 2 to 3 days, we may reroll your slot so please be sure to respond even if you do not have a preference! We need all winners to respond to be able to hand out prizes!

Post event reflection and feedback

We know that there were a few rocky patches with this first event, and we've learned a lot! Most of our team has never run an event like this before and we're all learning as we go! But I believe that overall, this event was a success!

Future plans and updates!

I, Dio the owner and creator of the site and species, have a very busy life currently, so please keep that in mind as we work on the site and make it fun for all! I'm currently a computer science student while also working full time, so my ability to work on Star Eaters and related projects is quite limited. This project is a passion of mine and I have no intention of ever letting it die or let life get in the way from working on it. However, I still must be realistic about my ability to do things and how fast though. That said, I do have a few announcements to share!

We are working on a TIMELINE for the Star Eaters development! I have every intention of polising up a timeline plan and creating a page for it. It may take some time however, so we ask for your patience! We want to be careful not to make promises we cannot keep. This is the main reason we don't currently have a public roadmap.

Valentines Day adopts are likely coming! I fully launched this site out of my own pocket, and since then monthly expenses for the site have increased, so I'm going to begin working on adopts and getting custom slots open! I'm working on Valentines Day adopts that will be uploaded on Februrary 13th. These will be available onsite and on toyhou.se, and they will be an auction with the starting bid of 35$ USD. [About how much my last server bill was! <3] For those of you who don't yet have a Star Eaters account, the adopt will come with an invite code to officialize them!

Customs will likely be avaliable starting in March. This is a tentative timeline, but I will likely begin offering monthly custom slots. The prices and details are currently TBA, but will likely have a base price based on the Star Eaters server costs for Februrary. Something to look forward to with customs: You will be allowed to ask for traits that do not exist yet! Details on how that will work will be in the upcoming customs post!

Our next opening is still TBD! Once we have completed our timeline page, the dates for our next openings will be announced. For now, we will continue to be invite only and invite codes will be available to users who purchase customs and adoptables from dio offsite! Our intention is not to make this site pay-to-play, so this will only be a temporary measure as we work through our growing pains in the beta. We will be working out other ways to obtain invite codes in the meantime. If you have any ideas feel free to submit those to our new feedback form detailed below!

Ko-fi support and MYO sales. We are considering the option of a kofi subscription and MYO sales to support the development of the site. While it's not guaranteed we will go this route yet, we would like to hear from you about your thoughts on this! We have a dedcated form for suggestions and feedback on that: THE KOFI FEEDBACK FORM IS HERE. 

Again, we would like to emphasize that we do not want this site to be pay-to-play! We will still have plenty of other ways to obtain MYOs and new Star Eaters without having to invest any real money! We are only considering the kofi option to allow users to help support us where they can and offset server costs coming out of dios own pocket! All feedback [positive, negative, or otherwise] will be seriously considered before we move forward with this decision.

February mini event

Our first seasonal pet will be revealed soon! We're working on a Valentines Day inspired pet, and plan for it to be available to obtain starting Februrary 14th! They'll be claimable via a scavenger hunt and a Valentines prompt that will run from Febuary 14th to the end of Februrary!  This mini event will only have one limited prompt with the special seasonal pet and bonus comet coins as it's prize! It will also feature a small scavenger hunt that will begin on the 14th where users can find hidden items which will include the seasonal pet and a few box items with goodies inside! More details on it will be posted closer to the event time!

New General feedback form!

The final announcement I'd like to share is that I've created a deadicated feedback form! This is to help keep our feedback organized in one place. This form will replace the suggestions channel in the discord! We hope this will not only keep us more organized but also allow people who do not wish to be in the discord a chance to give us feedback and suggestions on the website! If you have made a suggestion or posted feedback in the suggestions channel on discord, please feel free to repost it on the form! I'm a pretty forgetful person [Got the adhd hehe] so it would help me a lot if the feedback was reposted so I have an easier time looking back on it! We will soon be making a UI update to the navbar so there will include a permanent direct link to the feedback form!

A little personal note from me, the owner, I want to thank you all so sosososo much for making this event and our first beta opening a success! We could not have done it without all of you! I'm so stoked to see this community make a comeback after the hardships we faced due to the collapse of deviantart and just in general not knowing where to go from there. I am so glad my gamble on making this website and putting my freetime and money into it has paid off and people enjoy the site and species! I hope that one day we'll grow to be something I can work on fulltime. I would also like to personally thank the staff team who have given their freetime and effort for this project as well! They deserve all of the support! Please give them lots of thank yous as well!! :> I can't wait to see where this project takes us from here! This journey is only just beginning and we have so many awesome plans and fun stuff ahead!

Hello all! We have successfully completed our first event!

Open Beta starts now!

Welcome to the official Star Eaters open beta! While the site is still [and likely always will be] in progress, we are to a point where we can release to the public and start doing events and get the game kicked off! Currently the ARPG [Art Roleplay Game] side of the site has the base features of an ARPG; prompts, currency, items, and character pets! While theres many more features we have planned this core gameplay is enough to begin the Star Eaters adventure!

Some information on the Star Eaters open beta;

• Everyone who joins will obtain an MYO slot item to create their first Star Eater character [or maybe not the first for those of you who've gotten characters of the species in the past haha]
• The open beta will be a TIMED OPENING, this means we will have joins freely open to anyone for a certain ammount of time, the site will be open to join for TWO WEEKS and will close again, this is to midigate the traffic to the site just in case, so us mods don't get overwhelmed! [none of us get paid to run this site currently, so we don't want to overload ourselves with work!]
  • Depending on how much interest we get we may choose to close early, but we will do our best not to!
• The site is still in BETA and while we'll always be working on this project it'll never be complete, the state it's in is not a completed fully fledged game yet. Many pages are still being constructed and progress can be slow due to this being a hobby project [again none of us make money at this time! not even the owner! it costs money to run actually so I, the owner, need to keep my day job unfortunately]

RAFFLE

For the beta we have created BRAND NEW Star Eater designs which will be raffled off at the end of the month!! You can already claim a FREE entry with no extra things to do for it by going to the prompts page and submitting to the prompt titled "FREE RAFFLE ENTRY" More information is in the details of that prompt!

We are raffling off 10 premade star eaters! five of which will be claimable via the Adoption Center using a special Adoption Voucher item and five are mystery designs created by the mods!

• Winners will claim either a randomized mystery design or an Adoption Voucher in the order in which they are rolled! if all of one or the other get claimed, the remaining winners will get what's left.
  
  • There are five mystery designs and five adoption vouchers and ten winners!
• Mystery designs will be rolled after all of the prizes have been claimed
• Adoption Vouchers can be used immediately upon recieving them and the design claims will be on a first-come-first-served bases.
• Adoption Vouchers will be good for all designs in the adoption center, both old or new.
  • Adoption center designs will be swapped to adoption voucher only for one week or until all adoption vouchers have been used before returning to Star Tokens.
• if an Adoption Voucher goes unused it will be turned into a Star Token at the end of the week.

Story zero

Announcing our first story event for open beta! This simple story will introduce you to the world of Star Eaters and comes with four prompts and a month long advent calendar! [don't worry there will be no penalty for missing an advent day, to keep things fair to new users who may miss the first few days!]

Story Zero will follow you[A star eater] exploring the new world and discovering some lore in the Libra Library! You will help Libra and meet some of our other NPCs living in the Milky Way Starfields and get a small introduction to the world of Star Eaters! You will also have a chance to find extremely rare and exclusive items to help you create and upgrade Star Eater characters of your own!

Exclusive and rare items to look for!

• Beta Bug - A beta exclusive pet that will only be obtainable during beta events!
• Rare pets - some rare pets that may only appear during events! [not exclusive]
• Rare and Legendary trait items - upgrade your Star Eater or Star Eater MYO with rare and legendary traits!
• Special core type items - Use these items on MYO slots to obtain rare and special core types!
  • Void Core and Synthetic Cores will be available!
• MYO items - items to make new Star Eater characters with!

Last week of closed beta bug hunt!

Introducing our special beta exclusive pet, the Beta Bug! They will only be available for the closed beta and the month long open beta during our Story Zero event!

We're ending the closed beta with something special for those of you who've joined the site early, a chance to get some Beta Bug pets hidden around the site on various pages in traps we've set out to capture them!They will be available to obtain from now until December 31st! if you see this image around the site, click on it to recieve a Bug Trap! a special item that when opened gives you a Beta Bug pet!

There are five of them including this one on the newspost! Look around the site on various pages and you may find a trap with a bug waiting to be released and befriended by your Star Eater!

Remember not to share spoilers on where to find the traps with other players to keep things fair!

And of course if you find any bugs on the site please send a report through the Bug Reports page linked in the footer of every page!

CLOSED BETA COMING SOON!

Hello future space adventurers! We would like to officially welcome you all to our little corner of the internet!

While the site itself has a long way to go before it's completed [and likely it'll never be totally done!] I, Dio, am proud to announce that the core functions are prepped and ready for early access beta!

STARTING ON DECEMBER 1st OF 2023: We will be doing raffles of closed beta invite codes on our discord server! If you are interested in joining and participating in the site and game early be sure to keep an eye out on the discord server and get the raffles ping role so you are notified! We will be giving out a certain ammount each week in december based on our needs.

if you have any questions or concerns at all please ask in the server! I will be happy to answer!

Special things that beta testers will get:

• a beta tester badge on their profile:
• early access to prompts to gain currency and MYO slots and trait modifiers
• A Beta gift box with some exclusive goodies!
• A beta discord role with access to beta tester channels to provide feedback on the site and suggestions for improvements

What we have so far:

• A functional masterlist with Star Eaters listed with their owners!
• Profiles for our users
• A gallery to upload Star Eater Art to
• Functioning currency and the set up for artists and writers to be rewarded for drawing Star Eater characters
• A mostly completed forum ready for use with some officially hosted forum games that reward in game bonuses!
• MYO system for getting MYO slots and submitting new MYOs
• System for updating Star Eater designs
• Badges you can get as a reward
• Pets for your star eaters
• onsite trade listings for items and star eater characters
• an adoption center where you can purchase Star Eaters for currency
• a welcome gift for every new user!

Planned features:

• Story based events with prompts and fun things to do and items to collect along with lore to discover!
• minigames
• and more! you may notice some things already on the site that don't have any content yet, those are things that will be worked on over time!

While we do have big plans for the future of the Star Eaters game, keep in mind that this is a passion project and updates will likely be slow! If you are interested in supporting future development of the game keep an eye out for adoptable designs by dio which will be posted in the sales tab! If there is enough interest post launch we may open up the Ko-Fi.

we are aiming for a Janurary 1st full opening of the website and have an event planned to kick things off! if you are interested in helping out with managing the website when it's launched shoot dio a DM on discord [xholydiverx] and we can discuss! [only apply for a helper position if you are 18+ please]

**Please note that janurary 1st is only a goal, because dio has a fulltime job outside of art and college, simply being too busy to work on this passion project full time may impact the full launch date. I sure hope it won't but I wish to be up front about this in the very real possibility that it does happen!

Regarding deviantart

DeviantART was our home for the beggining of our journey with the species and was dio 's art home for even longer. Sadly due to recent events dio is NOT comfortable using the site or having a community hub there.

HOWEVER. Until the website is fully joinable we will be posting these news posts there as well. Once the site has opened completely, we will no longer use nor update the deviantart page.

The deviantart page and deviantart masterlist will stay up for archival purposes only but will NOT be updated. please be wary of users selling Star Eaters offsite if they only have the deviantart masterlist page or don't have a link to the website's masterlist listing.
